For the past four years, the Seoul Africa Festival has been held in the Korean capital on the third weekend in May. Over the years, the festival has seen its popularity soar. The first edition in 2016 had gathered a few thousand people. In 2019, the event received over 50,000 visitors.

The Seoul Africa Festival has a double objective: to allow Africans in the diaspora to meet and exchange and to invite Koreans to discover the richness and diversity of African cultures.

This event organised by the NGO Africa insight aims to deconstruct stereotypes about Africa. Indeed, the organisation wants to change the perception of the continent in South Korea. Africa does not only live in corruption, diseases, poverty, natural disasters… It has an incredible culture to defend and incredible talents in live painting, music, dance, etc.

The Seoul Africa Festival also allows Africans to reach out to their diaspora and invite Koreans to discover their culture.
