The shades of love according to Dino D’Santiago

The Portuguese singer of Cape Verdean origin released the video for a song from his new album a few weeks ago. Even if you are not a Portuguese speaker, you are bound to dance…

“Como Seria” is one of the tracks on Dino D’Santiago’s latest album “Mundu Nôbu”. A Portuguese singer of Cape Verdean origin, he has created a mixture of pop and electro, with an electric guitar in the background, reminiscent of Congolese and Cameroonian sounds such as ndombolo or makossa.

“Como seria”, which translates into French as “How would it be”, is a questioning of the interpreter on a love in half-tone or perhaps in one way. For he, he says, gives so much that he feels like Beyonce and Jay-Z.

The video, unveiled last January on Dino D’Santiago’s YouTube channel, has already had more than 850,000 views. A great performance for this native of Santiago Island. He had not generated so much interest on Youtube with the single “Nova Lisboa” from the same album. He had even less visibility with his first album entitled “Eva”, released in 2013 (10 tracks).

It must be said that the video for ‘Como Seria’ is quite impressive. The choice of costumes was meticulous. The colour red is predominant, no doubt evoking a love like everyone dreams of. And then he has imposed a strong African identity, with the dancers in particular assuming their Afro cuts perfectly.

Born Claudino de Jesus Borges Pereira, Dino D’Santiago was spotted in 2003, when he accompanied a friend to the final of a TV music programme. His career slowly took off, first as a member of the band Jaguar, with whom he won the MTV award for best Portuguese performance for the track “This is for my people”, viewed more than 400,000 times on Youtube.

Since then, he has signed with Sony music, seduced Madonna who took him under her wing and continues his path to international fame.
