The coupé-decalé singer Erickson le Zulu died on Saturday night in Paris following an illness. Bosiki Eric, better known under the nickname Ericsson le Zoulou had Malian and Congolese origins and spent his childhood in Congo, where he started to sing at the age of 9. He made the beautiful days of the Ivorian urban music borrowed of atalakus and of coupe décalé through five (5) albums put on the discographic market. These are “Ouragan” (2002), “Suzanne”, 2003), “Gloire” and “La main de Dieu” (2007) and “La main de Dieu” (2008). “I still remember when we used to sneak out of the maquis for salat during Ramadan. And I enjoyed listening to you recite the Koran. Babi, Bamako, Dakar and Geneva, we won a lot of battles together brother. But this one, nobody wins. Farewell brother, may Allah forgive us”, reacted the artist Soum Bill. As for Molare, he added: “I also remember our tour in Burkina, Benin, Togo, Guinea, the wedding with Amoin Yolande in Yop where you seriously stressed us. I also remember your last call at the end of August to comfort me after Didier’s death so that I wouldn’t give up and yes, you were one of the few who hadn’t forgotten how far we’d come. We talked about your 20 years of career that you were planning to celebrate. And yes, because until then you are the only coupe décalé artist who emerged before 2002. For the older ones we are only 18 years old. But what I will remember most is that laughter for all those who knew you, that infectious laughter, the mockery never hurtful. I can’t imagine the pain of our brothers in showbiz of all musical genres. You said it, all-round champion. May the Almighty welcome you bro. The artist had been living for several years with his family in France where he died.
