Burkina Faso: Friends of the police set fire to Fespaco

The group was on the stage deployed on Avenue Kwame N’Krumah in the city of Ouagadougou.

There are four of them. All of them are police officers with a passion for music. They could have been content to sing in the privacy of their shower, but they decided to get together to form the group “Les amis de la police”. So they live out their dreams as musicians, in the guise of peacekeepers. They proudly wear their uniforms in their videos and on stage.

On 27 February, they were on stage on Avenue Kwame N’Krumah, opposite the bar “Le Taxi brousse”, on the sidelines of the 26th edition of the Pan-African Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (Fespaco). The four friends, Moussa, Harouna, Seydou and Germain, made the festival-goers dance in the after-party on this square. It was not for nothing that they had to spend a few minutes taking selfies with fans after they came off stage.

A blend of many styles, their music is meant to have fun, but also to raise awareness. Released in 2014, their first album, “Paix et cohésion sociale”, already sent out messages that are still relevant today.

The group is the pride of the police, but never travels without the permission of its hierarchy.
